Description
What middle school student doesn't like to learn about fighting? This lesson (which is one of my best sellers) comparing Knights and Samurais gets them interested right away and relates to Common Core! Using Voicethread.com or GoAnimate4Schools.com students take on the point-of-view of a Knight and Samurai to compare various aspects of each (i.e. appearance, responsibilities, combat skills, weapons, code of conduct, etc...).
This product includes my rough lesson plan (allowing you to see my thought process and benchmarks that I applied to this lesson) as well as a complete student assignment handout, "notes to the teacher," a sample list of websites for researching, group rubric, individual rubric, and a student voicethread example.
The lesson allows for some time in the library to research the various aspects of each character. Computers and internet access are necessary. This lesson does not include instructions on using GoAnimate4Schools.com (have also used Xtranormal.com in the past) or voicethread.com. However, voicethread.com is a free internet site and is pretty user-friendly. My students had no problem learning as they went.
