What educators are saying

The students enjoyed the escape room. I like how it provides information in a different way. I think it was great!
My Geography kids LOVED this! Not only did this help teach us new concepts to some and relearn concepts for others, it was an interactive activity and they asked many questions which led to some really good in depth discussions. (of course they love to compete with each other)

Description

This amazing landforms lesson for World Geography or Science has your students work to "Escape From Inside the Earth"!

It's a simple "print-and-go" escape room lesson that doesn't require locks or anything besides this resource!

The lesson includes 8 readings to use as stations where students learn about Earth’s landforms and tectonic plates. These are:

  • The Earth’s Layers
  • Pangea
  • Landforms
  • The Ring of Fire
  • Converging Plate Boundaries
  • Divergent Plate Boundaries
  • Transform Boundaries
  • External Forces (Erosion, wind, etc.)

Each station also includes a set of questions based on the 5 Themes of Geography that serve as "clues" for how to escape.

Students receive a special worksheet where they fill in the answers from the reading stations. Once they complete each station, they unscramble the clues to figure out how to Escape From Inside the Earth!

There's also printable and Google Slides instructions, a Google Doc versions of the readings and clues worksheets, teacher notes, a complete answer key, and recommended videos to support the lesson.

Your students will love this engaging style of escape lesson and learn everything they need to know about landforms and plate tectonics.

This resource can also be purchased as part of my Intro to World Geography Unit Plan Bundle along with dozens of other great activities!

Thanks so much for checking it out!

NGSSMS-ESS2-2
Construct an explanation based on evidence for how geoscience processes have changed Earth’s surface at varying time and spatial scales. Emphasis is on how processes change Earth’s surface at time and spatial scales that can be large (such as slow plate motions or the uplift of large mountain ranges) or small (such as rapid landslides or microscopic geochemical reactions), and how many geoscience processes (such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and meteor impacts) usually behave gradually but are punctuated by catastrophic events. Examples of geoscience processes include surface weathering and deposition by the movements of water, ice, and wind. Emphasis is on geoscience processes that shape local geographic features, where appropriate.
