What educators are saying

I use this resource each week as I introduce our new letter of the week. My kiddos love the songs, and riddles inside this bundle. I will use this for many years to come.

Description

Are you looking for an easy way to review the alphabet and letter sounds daily? You found it! This gives children MUSICAL, ACTIVE, and FUN daily review for letter recognition, including recognizing them written in various fonts. There are ten different quick activities for each letter to help you keep things moving and hold your students' attention. This slide deck will make a great part of your Morning Meeting!

These slides work well for both in-person and remote learning.

This Pre-K/TK version has the Letters and Sounds songs included, whereas the K/1st grade version contains our Alphabet Formation songs instead. Otherwise, they are identical in every other way. (Click links to see samples, but keep in mind that this set ONLY includes the AUDIO, not the VIDEO.) Otherwise, they are identical in every other way.

Want to try this out before purchasing? Click here to make a copy of the slide deck for the letter K.

Activities on Slides: (Skipping a slide is easy if desired)

  1. Say the letter name and sound
  2. Sing the song for each letter. (Music audio files are included for all letters.)
  3. Draw the letter in the air
  4. Draw the letter on someone's back (or on anything)
  5. Finger spell the letter
  6. Do the “Alphabet Action” (such as “run” for the letter R, etc.)
  7. Identify the beginning sound pictures and do an action for each one. (The kids help to generate ideas for the actions!)
  8. Give a thumbs up or down for the target letter. (There are ten practice slides for each letter for this.)
  9. Build the letter with manipulatives, such as cereal, pennies, blocks, etc.
  10. Guess what? The teacher reads the riddle on the screen for a word with the target beginning sound, and the kids try to guess the word.

How to Skip a Slide: You may or may not wish to display every single slide for each letter, depending on your instructional goals. Thankfully, it is very easy to “hide” certain slides in the file. For example, I do not always use the Letter Practice slides at the end of each slide deck with some groups of students due to their attention span and time constraints. To hide a slide, first select it, then go to the menu. Tap “Slide” and then select “skip.” Please note that this product is NOT EDITABLE beyond the ability to skip the slides you do not wish to display.

For the letter formation songs, we recommend that you do some motions with the songs, such as drawing the letter in the air, on the rug, or table, etc. You can make up your own motions or have the kids help you generate ideas! If you subscribe to our video subscription service, you can also check the motions there, too.

All of the audio files are included; just click the speaker icon to play them! (No video included.) The Alphabet Action song with audio is on just one separate slide because it goes through the entire alphabet rather than just one letter at a time.

This product covers the letters from A-Z and has 26 slide decks included, plus the Alphabet Action song as a bonus! Each letter has one song included, which has been embedded into the slide. Just click the speaker icon to play the song.

Would you rather print than use this digitally? Our corresponding printable product, the Letter of the Week Focus Wall, is sized to fit on a pocket chart. However, this version is designed to be used digitally (either online or in-person.) So, although you could print it, each of these Google Slides is probably too large for most pocket charts.

How to Access the Slides: Just click on the link provided after your purchase, and it will prompt you to make a copy of it for your own Google Drive. Please note that when you purchase one product, this is only a license for use in one teacher’s class.
