What educators are saying

These worksheets were such good practice for my students. I love that they can practice the skill with different problems. The visuals make the resource better. Thanks for this resource.
I was able to use the pictures and resources for my class. I downsized the numbers and made it more applicable for my classroom. All worked out nicely!

    Description

These easy print-and-go functional math shopping activities are perfect for students working on money skills in elementary or life skills classes. Students will practice functional math and reading skills through a variety of real-world shopping activities.

Print and go shopping activities for writing checks, using debit cards, making change and adding purchases. Differentiated store flyers and differentiated worksheets that include versions with and without word banks and task cards with and without picture cues.

This bundle includes 5 different stores where your students can practice shopping for shoes, hardware, sporting goods, toys, and winter clothes.

Each Life Skills Shopping Activity includes everything you need for a differentiated activity:

Sales Flyers: Each store includes 2 or 3 differentiated shopping flyers that are identical but have varied prices in whole dollars, 25 cent increments, and more complex change.

Shopping Task Cards: There are 24 to 28 task cards for each store. All the task cards can be used with any of the differentiated flyers from the corresponding store and are color-coded to match the store for easy reference. Task cards are differentiated and include:

    • Writing the price of a single item from a flyer with a picture cue
    • Writing the price of a single item from a flyer with no picture cues
    • Writing a check to make a single-item purchase.

    Print and Go Worksheets:

    • 2 reading worksheets requiring students to answer basic questions about the store flyer There are 2 versions of each worksheet—one with a word bank and one without.
    • 5 check writing worksheets requiring students to total the amount needed to purchase 2 to 3 items, write a check for the purchase amount, and determine a new balance in the checkbook register.
    • 5 cash purchase worksheets requiring students to total the amount needed to purchase 2 to 3 items, circle the bills that could be used, and determine the amount of change that would be received.
    • 1 debit card worksheet where they are given a debit card balance and asked if they can purchase specific items from that store.

    Answer keys are included

Put the sales flyers in a page protector, print out the worksheets, and either cut out the task cards for single use or put them in a photo album or laminate for re-use.

    What are teachers saying…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “This resource is great. The visuals are nice and support instruction. The different activities are helpful in supporting students learning in functional math and reading activities. I like the different storefronts and the multiple stores of the same type to help students compare prices. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this resource.” - Benjamin L.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “This has been a great and more motivating way to get in functional reading combined with math skills! I am so excited to have the different packs so it can be the same type of work but to change it up every few weeks with what the kids are working with!” - Rebecca T.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “My students found this resource engaging and it helped me to meet the need of working on money skills another time with a new resource. They enjoyed the visuals and the predictability of the structure once we started using the materials.” - Erica V.
