A 5 page list of common themes in literature.

The first page has a list of word or phrase themes common in literature - particularly children's literature.

The last four pages are lists of common themes in sentence form.

Some of the themes in sentence form are sorted based on commonalities:

  • themes about family and friends
  • themes about growth mindset
  • themes about being kind / doing the right thing
  • themes about equality / acceptance
  • themes about honesty
  • themes about emotions
  • themes about power
  • themes about hard times

These lists are geared towards teaching theme to upper elementary (primarily 4th and 5th grade students).
