Description

This LITERARY Elements Analysis lesson is used with the song lyrics of Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise"

If you want an avenue to truly reach many of your students in teaching them literary elements and how to identify and analyze them, this product is perfect for that!

Elements of Focus: Theme/Main Idea, Allusion, Irony, Idiom, Personification, Metaphor, Oxymoron

PDF file contains 7 pages-- 3 student printable organizers with literary elements in which student provides lyrics from song displaying a particular element and a place to explain how lyrics are examples of those elements. 3 pages of teacher's notes provide the lyrics and example explanations of why the lyrics are examples of certain literary elements. 1 page containing the link provided for downloading lyrics suggested activities (Suggestions for Use)

The song lyrics and audio for this lesson can be easily located on internet to print/download for student use.

Students easily practice how to identify/analyze literary elements on organizers.

A whole group discussion of their findings and explanations concludes this lesson on analyzing literary elements.

Organizers can be used in part or whole for a large number of songs out there! Elements can be identified in nearly every song I hear on the radio!! Make literature fun!
