Description

Reading about Main Idea and Supporting Details is a Smart Notebook file that is aligned to the Common Core State Standards that ranges from second to fourth grade. Within this smartboard lesson/activity file the students will be able to identify key skills in finding the meaning of the main idea with supporting details and why it is important to find the main idea with supporting details in both fiction and nonfiction passages. Through completing a graphic organizer and writing about their reading that allows students to determine the main idea of a text and explain how it is supported by key details to summarize the text. This 19 page file includes a complete lesson with objective and essential questions, five passages, two texts with readability levels and graphic organizer.
