Description

This 3-day Making Inferences Mini-Unit provides numerous opportunities to develop the skill of inferring. Through creative activities like Inference Charades, Top Secret Tips Puzzle, “Inside the Principal’s Files,” and Whose Locker is This?, students develop their inferring skills while they are actively engaged in their learning. Direct instruction on the reading comprehension skill combined with the analysis of five separate inferencing reading passages further develop students’ ability to accurately infer. The engaging making inferences worksheets and fun activities make this unit a hit!

By the end of the 3-day unit, you’ll be so impressed with the ways students combine what a text says directly with their background knowledge to make the best possible inference!

Great News! The student packet is also available as a Google Slides resource for students. In addition to the PDF version, students can complete the packet pages via a file sharing service such as Google Drive, Google Classroom, or in the internet “cloud.” The digital version of the packet is accessible from any computer and allows students to complete their work online.

* FYI: The anticipatory set activities that accompany each lesson are NOT in a digital format. They will still need to be printed for students due to the hands-on and interactive nature of the activities.
