What educators are saying

I love putting these collaborative posters on the wall for students from all classes to help color together. The students like watching it all come together.
My class loved making their own world map! Such a perfect activity for the beginning of the year. Thank you!

Description

Engage the whole class with this collaborative poster featuring the map of the world. Each student will get one piece of the puzzle that they will color. After assembling all the pieces, you will get a giant poster to display in the classroom.

How to make a collaborative poster in class ?

Just give one or two images per student and let them choose their favorite pencils or felt pens for this coloring activity. Once all the pictures are all colored, they assemble them carefully to get a giant poster. Remember to have a look at your students’ faces : you will notice how proud they are of their own creation every time they step into the classroom.

If you want to learn more, please read our blog article (in French): a collaborative poster for Saint Patrick’s Day, in which every step is clearly detailed and illustrated.

3 options included

  • with the colors written
  • nothing written : let your student express their creativity !
  • an already colored version if you want to skip the coloring step

Printing indication

This resource contains 30 pieces (2 pieces per page). When you print and assemble them, the poster is 88cm x 62 cm (about 34,6 in x 24,4 in). If you adjust your printing settings, you will be able to get a smaller poster.

Perfect additional activities

  1. Just assemble the poster that has no colors indicated. You will color the countries when you talk about a specific country in class so as to locate it precisely with your students. Perfect to use with Countries around the World .
  2. Another possible activity: assemble the non-color version. At the beginning of the school year, when talking about the different English (or French or Spanish) speaking countries, just color them for your students to get a precise idea where the language is spoken.

Bonus

You can give your students a coloring page of the poster. They can then put it in their notebook.

Displaying a BIG world map in the classroom is always useful, I am sure you and your students will love this one!
