    Description

Math With Art is NatureGlo's MathArt Animated PowerPoint BUNDLE with student study guides and Internet Activities! This product is a remarkable growing culmination of 17 years of private school and online homeschool teaching. My homeschool parents tell me that MathArt is the missing link in modern day maths education.

    What is MathArt?

MathArt is a thematic unit study educational journey showing how math relates to the real world around us. It reveals the rich and beautiful connections there are between math, science, history, literature, music, culture, and the natural world. It can be used as a supplement with any math scope and sequence or singly for an eclectic, progressive, or unschool family child's chosen math education.

    Why MathArt?

MathArt shows students how math in its exactness is beautiful and found everywhere around them. A great supplement to math and history textbooks, these interactive PowerPoint lessons can inspire your students to get out into their backyard and local neighborhood parks looking for mathematical connections in the natural world. A significant part that's missing in most math textbooks are the connections that math has with nature, art, science, technology and cultures.

MathArt has a backbone of history, beginning with the ancient Babylonians all the way to today's modern mathematicians or "MathArtists". Another missing link in our modern day math curriculum is mathematics history! It's vital to see the evolution of how humanity has discovered and grown with mathematics understanding and application since the beginning of our history.

A Word To Homeschoolers Interested in Unschooling Math

MathArt is a great course for unschooling maths. It tells the story of mathematics history and weaves in art, science, nature, music, and writing without the textbook and workbook tears!

Understand that shapes in different categories (e.g., rhombuses, rectangles, and others) may share attributes (e.g., having four sides), and that the shared attributes can define a larger category (e.g., quadrilaterals). Recognize rhombuses, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals, and draw examples of quadrilaterals that do not belong to any of these subcategories.
Recognize a line of symmetry for a two-dimensional figure as a line across the figure such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts. Identify line-symmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry.
Understand that attributes belonging to a category of two-dimensional figures also belong to all subcategories of that category. For example, all rectangles have four right angles and squares are rectangles, so all squares have four right angles.
Draw polygons in the coordinate plane given coordinates for the vertices; use coordinates to find the length of a side joining points with the same first coordinate or the same second coordinate. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Represent three-dimensional figures using nets made up of rectangles and triangles, and use the nets to find the surface area of these figures. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
