Packet #1: Time periods in Music
Students will read about the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th/21st century time periods. They will then complete a crossword puzzle and 10 questions about their reading.

Packet #2: Musical Careers
Students will read about 5 possible musical careers. They will then read and highlight/circle a Help Wanted ad. The Help Wanted ad lists the “soft skills” that each career needs, as well as gives more information about job requirements, such as working weekends. Students should circle or highlight the skills they possess from each job listing. They will then fill out an application for one of the listed jobs. Please note: the listed salaries are based on the average salary in the United States at the end of 2022 for each career.

- 2 page job application
Packet #3: Concerto vs. Symphony form
Students will read about the typical form of the concerto and the symphony, as well as rondo form, which is used in both concertos and symphonies. They will then complete a checklist regarding facts about both forms. Finally, they will write a rhythmic rondo using a template.
- 2 page reading passage
- Concerto/Symphony compare/contrast
- Rondo rhythm composition template
Answer keys are included, as well as an example rhythmic rondo for the sub.
