What educators are saying

This project was so fun! My students were engaged for several days. They told me it was a highlight of the year!

Description

4.MD.3 - Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.

Students will plan and design the blueprint for a Minecraft village. They are also given the area or perimeter for some buildings, and will be required to figure out length and width. Use the project with basic grid paper. This is a project based learning experience that my kids enjoyed and I hope yours will as well. What better way to incorporate their real world and math?

Now includes a higher and modified version to better accomodate all learners.
