What educators are saying

I enjoyed using this resource at the end of the year when I showed this movie. It kept students engaged and focused.
My students used this assignment to help make sure they stayed on track with the movie and that they understood what was happening. They were comparing this movie to the novel we studied, so it was good for them to have a way to take notes.

Description

This movie guide accompanies "Freedom Writers." The movie is rated PG-13. This product has 40 questions total! I have left this movie guide completely editable so that you can add or subtract questions.

This guide has 35 questions for students to complete as students watch the movie. They are in chronological order. It also has five additional questions that require longer answers. They are analytical and work well as follow-up for the movie.

This guide works well in any class watching the movie, and will serve a substitute teacher well. An answer key is included and has answers for all 40 questions.

As an extension activity, three pages will walk students through writing their own revealing, inspiring "Freedom Writers" journal about themselves. I have also provided links to articles criticizing the movie if you wish to cover the controversies with your students.
