What educators are saying

We used this resource to learn about worry dolls and then we expanded on it by using pipe cleaners and yarn to create our own worry dolls. Thank you!

Description

This project includes:

A vocabulary list with Spanish to English terms that will be found in the story.

An original reading for novice level Spanish learners that explains what Guatemalan Worry dolls are used for in Guatemala.

An art project with step by step picture directions for making your own DIY Guatemalan Worry dolls in your classroom. All you need is wire or pipe cleaners, scissors, and yarn. If kids are missing supplies, there are lots of creative ways to improvise (using a spoon, paperclips, toothpicks, etc...)

Links to two videos. One video has a teacher (myself) demonstrating how to make the worry dolls in English and using a few basic Spanish words. In the second video, I read the story in Spanish. You can press CC to add English subtitles!
