Creating your own melody can sometimes feel like a puzzle. Why not embrace the process and use puzzle pieces to help create your very own composition! Each jigsaw card gives the students a rhythm building brick and a suggestion for notes to play. As they piece together different puzzle piece card they put together a brand new melody!
For this center/activity just print off the flash cards that you want to use, laminate, and cut apart (there are several different levels of difficulty including BAG and additional cards for low E and low D). Each student can take a task card and bag of jigsaw cards and make the patterns suggested on the task card. Follow the task card’s instructions to complete different assignments. The jigsaw cards could also be used to inspire new arrangements and melodies.

This product includes:
*160 jigsaw-themed cards with rhythmic patterns and notes to play on the soprano recorder. Note groupings include BAG as well as additional cards for low E and low D.
*4 separate task cards to show students different ways to group the jigsaw pieces into suggested melodies. This can inspire creativity through arranging.
*Use as individual activities, small group learning, in learning centers, or leave for a substitute teacher.
