Composer of the Month bulletin boards are a great way to introduce new music to your students while incorporating music history and listening activities, and act as a supplement to your lessons. They look great as décor and can be changed as often as needed to reflect your curriculum or performance pieces.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!
If you are not familiar with “Hamilton” and/or “In the Heights,” please note they are best suited for students aged 13 and older due to adult language and suggestive topics.
I’ve tried to include examples that omit profanity (with the exception of “96,000”…
see below), but please do your own screening to be sure the listening examples are otherwise appropriate for your students.
- The example I’ve included for “96,000” DOES HAVE PROFANITY:
(d*mn, a**, sh*t). - The example I’ve included for “Alexander Hamilton” is a clip from Disney+ that omits the profanity at the beginning and end of the song.
This set includes more pages than my other COTM sets. Because there are separate pages with extra listening examples for “In The Heights”, “Hamilton”, and “Moana”, the links for these same works on the Famous Compositions page includes extra info about the works themselves through some sort of interview. I’ve tried to get a variety of sources for listening examples through live performances, movie scenes, rehearsals, covers, etc.

SAFESHARETV INFORMATION:
SafeShareTV takes YouTube links and eliminates the distractions of related videos, autoplay, and best of all, NO ADS! This is why some sort of safe-viewer is recommended in the classroom. I have also made sure to edit the videos to crop out any unnecessary beginning time (like applause) so you get right to the music after clicking the link.
Although these bulletin board sets are mainly used for decoration, many teachers like to use them as digital instruction material on the projector or SMARTboard. When opening the Famous Compositions page, click any of the composition titles to be taken to a video of the piece.
Please make sure your district does not block YouTube or SafeShareTV before attempting to access the video links in your classroom. Please note that the download does not contain actual video and audio files. All videos are internet-based. Links are clickable in PDF files only and are found in the Famous Compositions page unless specified otherwise.

COMPOSER PHOTOS:
Please note that not all Composer of the Month sets have a photo included with the package. I only use public domain images in my COTM sets, so if a photo is not available to me, I will not include it within the file.
If I have a Composer of the Month set you would like to purchase without a photo of a composer, you are more than welcome to use my blank PDF and JPEG files in Word, PowerPoint, or some other word or presentation software to insert a composer photo of your choice. (Personal/Educational use only, no Commercial)

Borderless printing is recommended if your printer has this capability. All images are high quality and look best when printed in best quality settings. Laminate the pages to have them lasting for years.
