What educators are saying
Description
We teach more than content. We teach people.
We guide them through life, help them learn from mistakes, encourage them to form new habits and reach their potential.
Middle and high school are an ideal time for students to set goals. Personal goals can be set at any time, but the start of a new calendar year is traditionally when we step back, reflect on the different aspects of our lives, and consider ways we might improve.
This lesson asks students to look at four different areas of their lives—health, academics, relationships with friends and family, and personal growth—then set goals to improve in one or more area.
To make their goals more achievable, students will then figure out how they are going to measure their success. Using a Daily Record, a Milestone Tracker, or both, students will track their progress over time. Then, after some time has passed, they will have the opportunity to reflect on their progress with a Check-In Sheet.
