What educators are saying

Such a fun activity! The kids really liked this activity and I also like that they had to rely on information they learned in previous days to answer some of the questions

Description

This amazing Geography of North America lesson has your students work to "escape" after learning about the geography and major regions of America, Mexico, and Canada!

It's a simple "print-and-go" escape room lesson that doesn't require locks or anything besides this resource.

The lesson includes 8 readings to use as stations where students learn about the regions of North America. These are:

  • Alaska, the Cordillera, & Canadian Prairie
  • California and the Pacific Northwest
  • Mexico & America's Southwest Desert
  • The Rocky Mountains & Great Basin
  • The Great Plains, Midwest, & Great Lakes
  • Texas and the American South
  • Appalachia, the Mid Atlantic, & New England
  • Greenland, the Canadian Shield, & the Maritime Provinces

Each station also includes a set of questions based on the 5 Themes of Geography that serve as "clues" for how to escape.

Students receive a special worksheet where they fill in the answers from the reading stations. There's also a map they can use to color in the regions as they move through the stations.

Once they complete each station, they unscramble the clues to figure out where they can Escape From North America!

There's also printable and Google Slides instructions, Google Doc versions of the readings and clues worksheets, teacher notes, a complete answer key, and tips for the lesson.

Your students will love this engaging style of escape lesson while learning about the geography of North America's regions.

Note: I cover Central America & the Caribbean in a separate unit, so this activity just focuses on the regions of Mexico, Canada, and the U.S.
