What educators are saying
Description
If you are looking for a nontraditional way to assess your students on a recent class or independent novel, try a “one-pager”. A ”one pager” is a nontraditional way to assess your students on traditional learning standards such as theme, character, etc. I recently gave this activity as an assessment instead of the traditional test. My students were SO creative and didn’t even realize they were being assessed – my favorite kind of assessment.
In this Powerpoint file you will find the exact rubric I used, but you will be able to edit to meet your needs if needed.
I provided my students a very basic template (with just the border) but gave students the option to use one of the different templates provided in this pack if they wanted. This helped students that were stressed by a blank piece of paper. Providing templates for those that want one is a great way to differentiate.
What is included:
- Teacher direction page
- Editable rubric
- 7 templates
- 2 labeled templates
- Examples
*I recently (2024) added a compare/contrast setting one pager that I used in my classroom with great success!
