Description
One-Pagers are a great way for students to synthesize information across a historical unit. The assignment is a treasured institution in my classroom and adds consistency to the course and depth of understanding of historical events for students. At the end of each unit, students tie together key vocabulary and visually express how the concepts fit together to tell one cohesive story about the time period. Included is a Google Doc instructions and rubric handout, but even more valuable for students is a Google Slides presentation that includes 8 student examples along with teacher comments and explanation of the score. I post these Slides on my class website for students to view at any point during the year.
All the materials included are Google Docs/Google Forms so you can make a copy for yourself and edit the scoring details to fit your classroom. For my school and gradebook set up, I works for me to put this in the grade book as 6 summative “test points.” You can easily alter the rubric and examples to fit your classroom set up!
