Description

This is a BUNDLE of Organization 101 modules containing a full curriculum that will help your students establish a strong foundation for academic success. This is a giant bundle of 10 separate modules covering so many aspects of how to be organized mentally and physically in school.

This is a perfect unit to use remotely with students through Google Classroom. The Student Playlists are a stand-alone Google doc that can be copied for students. Students will independently work through the activities – videos, articles, and reflection questions.

This product contains a mix of discussion, written prompts, dynamic videos, interactive quizzes, online articles and hands-on activities.

This bundle includes the following 10 modules:

  • #1 Learning Styles –Take them through a tour of Multiple Intelligences, Myers Briggs Personality and the Four Tendencies illustrated with colorful graphics, clear informative slides, and videos. Each topic (MI, MBP and Four tendencies) communicates the concept, guides students to make predictions and sends them to links where they can take tests to determine their learning styles.
  • #2 Establishing Priorities -- help students map out HOW they spend their time and introduce them to the concept of the jar of life and the need to prioritize how they fill 24 hours a day. In addition, the product covers the concept of self–discipline and provides steps on how to develop this important trait.
  • #3 Identifying and Setting Goals - Identifying and setting goals is essential to reaching one’s success. Help students choose and work towards a goal destination. Turn their priorities (ROCK & PEBBLE) into concrete, actionable steps towards their goals. (This product works in conjunction with the Organization Module #2 - Establishing Priorities) In addition, the product introduces the idea of an IMPOSSIBLE list. The items on an IMPOSSIBLE list are BIG! It’s sort of like a bucket-list but more for the “right-now!”
  • #4 Obstacles & Growth Mindset - help students identify their personal obstacles in terms of school and academics. The product introduces the idea of how the brain grows and neuroplasticity. Helping students understand that intelligence is not a fixed entity and they have the power to grow their brain is a powerful lesson for them to learn in school. Finally, the concept of growth mindset is introduced to give students some tools to help them overcome their obstacles.
  • #5 Managing Stress - Take them through a tour of identifying typical stressors, how stress can make you sick, determining their own stress levels, and ways to manage stress in their lives illustrated with colorful graphics, clear informative slides and videos.Each topic (causes, effect on the body, levels, and tips to deal with stress) communicates the concept, guides students to identify how stress affects their lives, sends them to links where they can take tests to determine how much stress they currently and cumulatively hold and offers ways coping strategies and ways to live with stress.
  • #6 Procrastination –Take them through a tour of identifying ways that procrastination affects society, each particular person and proven strategies to help stop procrastination COLD in its tracks with colorful graphics, clear informative slides and videos. Each procrastination topic (causes, effects and coping strategies) communicates the concept, guides students to identify ways they procrastinate, examine root causes, and sends them to links where they can explore software and apps that help to minimize procrastination.
  • #7 Organizing Materials & Spaces - use this product to help your students honestly assess their organizational methods and teach them the steps to take charge of their binders, book bags/backpacks, daily planners and study space. Take them through a tour of identifying ways that they can effectively organize their materials, the psychology and benefits of using a daily planner and ways to make their study space the BEST possible environment for homework with colorful graphics, clear informative slides and videos.
  • #8 Attention, Multi-tasking & Time Management - Help your students see how they may be sabotaging themselves when they don’t manage their time well and think that multi-tasking is possible and is effective. This product takes students through a series videos, articles and online simulations that prove that multitasking is a big giant MYTH! Take them on a tour of how easily they can become distracted, how switch-tasking is difficult for their brain, the types of attention and an eye-opening account of where their time goes every day.
  • #9 Note-taking - This product takes students through a series videos, articles and hands-on practice that teaches students three types of note-taking: Cornell method, Mindmapping and Sketchnoting. Take them on a tour of each method through colorful infographics, videos and high-interest note-taking practice content.
  • #10 Study Skills - Arm your students with a variety of study skills to take their test-taking ability to the next level.This product takes students through a series videos, and that gives them study tips, instructions on how to make a study plan and illustrates some highly effective study strategies including: active recall, spaced repetition, memorization and flashcards. Take them on a tour of each method through colorful infographics, videos and high-interest note-taking practice content.

You must have internet access and a Google account to use this resource. Students must have their own Google account to access the Playlist. Make a copy of the Playlist for each student or assign in Google Classroom. Students should have access to technology in order to take read articles and access online resources.

This product is great for classroom teachers helping students to improve their Habits of Work, study skills or organization or if you have to teach an Academic or Study Skills course.

  • Read First – Teacher Overview – This is information about the module and any instructions on printing out information, etc. (one pdf file for modules #1 - 10).
  • Student Playlist – a stand-alone Google doc that can be copied for students. Students will independently work through the activities – videos, articles, and reflection questions.
  • Teacher Slideshow – A Google slideshow that can be projected for the students and allows for full class discussion.
  • Student Guided Notes – A guided notes packet to be used with the Teacher slideshow.(one pdf file for modules #1 - 10).

This curriculum can be used for a standalone class or as an add-on bell-ringer type of activity.
