Do you need paired passages that you can easily fit into your reading skill instruction throughout the year? This paired passage resource contains two sets of paired passages to be used to compare and contrast story elements, including more advanced story elements such as theme and point of view.

About the Paired Passages

Set A - Both stories are mysteries about lost items. The stories in this set are longer, with each being over a page in length.

Set B - Both stories are realistic fiction and take place in school settings where characters have to overcome a challenge or solve a problem. The stories in this set are each one page in length.

More Details About the Paired Passages

  • Each paired passage set includes short answer questions about each passage and then short answer questions that require the students to use information from both passages to answer.
  • The questions are NOT multiple choice.
  • There are also posters and optional graphic organizers that can be used with these passages or any other paired passages.
  • Answer keys are included.
