What educators are saying

Both years my students loved this project. It was a great resource for when I needed a "filler" lesson that connected to our Greece unit.
This is a great way to teach masks of Greek theatre i have students pick a story or myth and then make masks to fit the characters and use the masks to tell the story in class.

Description

As a teacher, I've struggled to find Greek Theatre mask projects that work for the motor development of my students. Paper plate masks were too limiting and often seen by my students as juvenile. More complex projects were either too difficult or messy, and what started off as a planned two day activity would regularly stretch into a whole week of classes. I created this product because of this challenge: I wanted a mask activity that would be quick and put the focus on character creation rather than the artistic ability of my beginner students.

These six image files are ready to print, cut, fold and curl, and assemble. Use hot glue with teens or glue dots for younger students. Preview images were created on copy paper, but cardstock is recommended for the best outcome. You can choose to print these on colored cardstock to save time or use white and paint to finish.

The set comes with six image files containing:

  • Two base masks (comedy and tragedy)
  • Eyelashes and eyebrows
  • Two crowns
  • Two beards and a mustache
  • Horns
  • Olive leaves
  • Three noses
