Use foldable graphic organizers to teach and review the eight parts of speech with your middle school students. These flaps and flip books allow students to interact with their grammar notes, quiz themselves, and even to color-code pages in the interactive notebook.

Product Features

  • Detailed Teacher Guide pages share assembly instructions, content support (definitions, examples, or discussion questions), and photos for every student notebook page.
  • Parts of Speech Quick Reference flipbook is a review that students can easily turn to all year long.
  • Interactive notebook foldable pages are black and white for easy printing and are sized to fit in composition notebooks.
  • Most interactive notebook pieces include two versions: one blank so that students can take their own notes and one with pre-printed notes for easy differentiation.

Teacher Prep

Preview Student Pages to choose whether you will use blank organizers or organizers with notes pre-printed (or whether you will differentiate by providing different versions).

Follow instructions in the Teacher Guide for printing; some of the pre-printed notes are designed for printing pages back-to-back.

You may choose to pre-cut some of the Student Pages using a paper slicer to save classroom minutes.

Students will need scissors, glue, and (optional) markers or colored pencils to complete the notebook pages.

How to Use this Parts of Speech Interactive Notebook Unit

As a whole-class lesson Provide foldable graphic organizers for students to take notes as you review the parts of speech with a slideshow presentation, class discussion, or lecture. (See related Parts of Speech teaching resources.)

As a learning station Post instruction page and copies of foldable graphic organizers for students to assemble in their interactive notebooks at a learning station. Provide materials (grammar textbook, videos, slideshow presentations, etc.) for students to read and take their own notes through small-group collaboration.
