What educators are saying

I added "mini" versions of these to a grammar bulletin board that students and I add to as each school year progresses. Students LOVE them!
These posters are so cringe-worthy, according to my students, and I love that. They are such a fun add to my classroom and I get a kick out of watching the kids roll their eyes every time I say "Yeet!"

Description

Do your secondary ELA students struggle to remember basic parts of speech? Empower your students with the grammar of slang parts of speech posters and activity. Not only will your students learn the parts of speech through slang terms they use everyday, students will also learn the origins of each word with the "Who Said it First" cards. Who Said it First cards include a brief history of each word along with a QR code that can be scanned for students who want to learn more.

An optional article analysis activity is also included. In this activity, students read the story of Kayla Lewis, the first person to use the phrase "on fleek." This article helps students to understand the creative contributions Black Americans have had on American English and the cultural appropriation oppressed groups have experienced throughout the history of our language.

Includes SEVENTEEN 8.5x11 inch posters that can be printed on any computer without using a lot of ink. Includes SIXTEEN who said it first cards with QR codes. Includes a two page article analysis and answer key.

A portion of all proceeds from this product will work to support Black, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ organizations in recognition of their amazing contributions to our language.
