Description
No Prep Ready-to-Go Printables! Explore number patterns in your classroom with this exciting Fibonacci resource! *Updated October 2023!*
Investigating the Fibonacci Sequence is a wonderful way to explore number and pattern through making authentic connections to the world we live in.
The Fibonacci numbers have been described as ‘nature’s numbering system’ because of the mysterious way they continuously pop up in the natural world! They have intrigued mathematicians for hundreds of years – so why not introduce them to your students and let them experience the wonder and amazement of the Fibonacci phenomenon!
I created this resource primarily because I found it difficult to find ready-to-go activities exploring Fibonacci that were elementary-friendly. Although commonly a topic reserved for extension or gifted and talented learners, engaging all students in learning surrounding the Fibonacci Sequence is the perfect accompaniment to a math unit focusing on pattern and number because children can experience first-hand how number patterns exist naturally in our world.
This resource is separated into the following sections:
1. Introduction to Shape and Number Patterns
2. The Fibonacci Sequence
3. The Golden Ratio, The Golden Rectangle and Fibonacci Spirals
4. Fibonacci Poster Design Task
