What educators are saying

Learning the trends in the periodic table can be tricky and this activity helped solidify and visualize these trends.

Description

This group of activities covers the periodic trends of atomic radius, electronegativity, and ionization energy. In one activity the students measure the atomic radius of several elements going across and down the periodic table. Once the students complete the activity it is easier for them to grasp the periodic trend of atomic radius. Another handout, groups all three trends together on a periodic table with the highest and lowest values exaggerated on the blank periodic table so that the student may use the chart for future reference. Yet another activity requires higher level analysis in order to answer the questions. All keys are included. The handouts can be used to accompany a PowerPoint lecture available in my store or they can be assigned as homework.
