What educators are saying

The interactive companion was a great way for students to practice with understanding perspective. I really like this resource. The kids were very engaged.
Finding texts to compare point of view on the same topic can be challenging. This resource saved me so much time in hunting and the students liked the topics!

    Description

This bundle has everything you need to keep your students engaged as they learn how to identify the author's point of view, or perspective. The activities in this bundle make learning about perspectives in reading fun and easy! Students love the activities while teachers love the convenience of these no-prep resources that can be used year after year! These point of view/perspective activities can be used for test prep, review, or introduction of the skill. It includes a PowerPoint, 6 worksheets, a craftivity with another worksheet, 5 partner plays, and a Google Forms activity that can be used as task cards or as an assessment.

What's included... To gain a better idea of everything included, please check out the individual PREVIEW for each resource:

    39-slide Introduction PowerPoint

    • It begins by focusing on how various CHARACTERS within one story can have different perspectives. Then, the second half of the PowerPoint switches to focusing on analyzing a passage for an AUTHOR'S perspective.
    • You have my permission to convert this to Google Slides, if you wish.
    • It comes with a matching companion handout (The companion handout includes both a printable version and a Google Slides version.)

    Worksheets and Craftivity

    • 3 worksheets
    • As students read the five short stories on the worksheets, they must consider the contrasting perspectives presented within each passage. Students generate a sentence that explains the two differing perspectives.
    • Students use their answers to assemble the craftivity that features sunglasses.
    • You get to choose whether to use the printable craftivity version, the Easel Activity version, or the Google version.

    Worksheet Packet

    • 6 worksheets
    • Students have an opportunity to contrast their own perspective/point of view with the author's perspective/point of view.
    • Includes a teaching poster!
    • You get to choose whether to use the printable version, the Google version, or the Easel Activity version.

    5 Partner Plays

    • Focus on fluency while practicing the skill of identifying differing perspectives
    • After reading each script, students must compare the differing perspectives of two characters.
    • You get to choose whether to use the print version or the Google version.

Digital Task Cards (compatible with Google)

    • 10 slides
    • Multiple-Choice
    • Ideal for an assessment and/or test prep activity

    5 days of LESSON PLANS

    • These plans outline how and when I use each of the included resources! You don't have to follow the lesson plan format I provide, of course, but it might be helpful in providing a bit of direction for you.

Here's what teachers like you have to say about using these author's perspective activities with their students:

⭐️ Elini N. said, "I loved this resource! The students were very engaged by all of the different stories and there were ways to integrate drama with the materials."

⭐️ Betsy G. said, "This is a must-have product. I LOVE your bundled resources. THE POWERPOINT COMPANION HANDOUT is the bomb! ;o) Your resources engage my 6th-grade special education kiddos. I was nervous that my middle schoolers might find the graphics somewhat immature, but they LOVE them!"

⭐️ Elementary Adventures in SoCal said, "One of the best products I have bought off TPT. Extremely useful for my third graders."

⭐️ Mikey D. said, "Perspective is a topic that gives a lot of my kids trouble. I can honestly say that your unit and resources helped me, and more importantly, them, overcome this hurdle... The kids loved this and I am grateful for such a well-planned and well-executed unit!"

Please note: The PowerPoint cannot be edited due to the copyright requirements made by the contributing artists (clip art, font, background).
