Description

Phonics Word Searches are great practice for Phonics Word Work. Your first graders will LOVE to search for each word using the pictures provided. Perfect Summer School fun! Very engaging with lots of skills! Great review for your first-grade students!

These 42 word searches get kids thinking about words, letters, and sounds while using picture support. Word searches are also fun and motivating for kids. I let mine work in partners if they are having trouble finding the words. These are fun and engaging activities that kids will love!

Word Searches ... These aren’t just busy work! They require reading as well.

Here are the skills covered in this resource:

  • short vowels (a, e, i, o, u)
  • magic e (a, i, o, u)
  • bossy r (ar, er, ir, or, ur)

Most skills have a mixed practice page following

all of the skills individually.

Have students start by reading all of the words in the word bank. If they can’t read the word, use the pictures for support.

Next, have them match the picture to the word and write the word in the space below the picture.

Finally, students will search for the words in the word search, circle them, and scratch them off in the word bank as they find them.

Use these phonics practice pages for morning work, station work, seatwork or homework.
