    1. Poetry structure & elements mini-lesson PowerPoint

    This PPT is designed as an introductory mini lesson.

    Students will be introduced to the structural elements of alliteration, internal rhyme, onomatopoeia, rhyme scheme, rhythm, meter, stanzas, & line breaks. Also, students will be exposed to narrative, lyrical, humorous, & free verse poetry.

    Each slide has a definition and example of the element or structure of poetry. These may also be printed on card stock and laminated to use year after year as anchor charts.

    2. Poetry Scoot

    Students will understand, Infer, & Draw Conclusions on structure and elements of poetry

    Grasping the meaning, form, and imagery in poetry can sometimes be a challenge for students. This ready to use, printable file is designed to actively engage your students in a fun review of the structure and elements of poetry by participating in a partner scoot. This activity may also be used in a literature station or for small group review.
