What educators are saying

I appreciate having a brief history of Tupac for my students to make connections before we analyzed the poem.
I liked this resource, but my students didn't. They said they had already read and studied this poem so they didn't want to have to do it again - Very frustrating.

Description

This poetry study asks students to identify personification, alliteration, metaphors and symbolism in Tupac Shakur's poem, "The Rose that Grew from Concrete." Also, students must identify the speaker, the audience, and the purpose of the poem as well as provide connections. The first page of this bundle is a brief biography of Tupac's life in order to give students a context for the extended metaphor in the poem. Additionally, a key for the poetry study sheet is included.
