    Prefix Bundle Lesson Plans

    Description

This prefix bundle has everything you need to keep your students engaged as they learn about 5 of the most common prefixes. The activities in this bundle make learning prefixes fun and easy! Students love the activities while teachers love the convenience of these no-prep resources that can be used year after year! It includes a mixture of worksheets, games, a PowerPoint, a flipbook, and a craftivity. This bundle, which includes lots of repetition and practice opportunities, will certainly build your students' vocabulary.

    The prefixes include:

    un-

    dis-

    mis-

    re-

    pre-

I choose to begin with these five prefixes because they account for 53% of all English prefixed words, according to Word Frequency Book (Carroll, Davies, Richman, 1971).

What's included... To gain a better idea of everything included, please check out the individual PREVIEW for each resource:

    46-slide PowerPoint

    • Ideal for introducing these prefixes to students!
    • Interactive Slides
    • You have my permission to convert this to Google Slides, if you wish.
    • It comes with a matching companion handout (The companion handout includes both a printable version and a Google Slides version.)

    • Each tab includes two practice pages.
    • The first page for each tab includes a word chart where students break down prefixed words.
    • For the second page, students identify prefixed words in sentences and define them.
    • When finished, this becomes a valuable reference tool!
    • You get to choose whether to use the printable version or the Google Slides version.

    Worksheet and Craftivity

    • Students complete a 13-item worksheet where they identify the suffixed word in each sentence and then define it on the line that follows.
    • Students create prefix paint palettes with the prefixes they found.

Here's what teachers like you have to say about using these prefixes activities with their students:

⭐️ Mandy M. said, "This resource is full of great activities at an affordable price. So many activities that thoroughly cover 5 prefixes with a variety of differentiated activities - electronic, hands-on, pencil/paper, and included a lot of repetitive practice! WONDERFUL RESOURCE!"

⭐️ Katie H. said, "My students loved using this resource and it made teaching prefixes a breeze! The PowerPoint is great and they have excellent examples!"

⭐️ Lynn L. said, "I used this as part of my lesson plan when my principal did my observation. It went over so well, and the kids really loved it!"

⭐️ Sunshine Sprouts said, "This packet has a great variety. The descriptive poster and 'I Have' game are very basic with no graphics, but the content is there. The content throughout the bundle is amazing... I LOVE the prefix palettes! The construction idea is great. Plus several worksheets for review and the flip book round things off. The PowerPoint is A+++ Very thorough! Excellent buy!"

⭐️ Jennifer S. said, "What an amazing bundle! I provide the flip books to students preassembled by having the copy machine staple them. This way we can get started right away. All kids need to do is color and trim the bottoms of the pages. There is plenty of space to write on each page, which is important for my students who write very large. My students were impressed and engaged with the PowerPoint. It's really a fantastic purchase!"
