Are you looking for an easy Christmas light patterns activity for your preschool, pre-k, kindergarten, and early childhood classrooms? Teach kids how to recognize, continue, and create a variety of patterns with this hands-on printable Christmas light bulb math activity. You can also use the blank black-and-white version as a Christmas light bulb template or coloring sheet

This activity is great for patterning assessment. and is perfect for small group activities and learning centers.

  • Printable light bulbs in 5 colors
  • Black & White Christmas light bulb pattern strips for coloring

*Within each type of pattern you will find 3 boards with light bulbs that are completely colored in and three boards with light bulbs that have some blank sections. Younger children will enjoy using the full color boards for color matching while older children can use the boards with blank sections to practice identifying and continuing the patterns.

The set includes printable light bulbs, but Pom-poms, buttons, or other manipulatives can be used on the pattern boards. The pattern board activity is fun to use on a magnetic board or cookie sheet. Simply apply magnets the back of the printable light bulbs.

The black & white pattern coloring strips print 3 per page. Cut them on the dotted lines. Children can create patterns by coloring the light bulbs with crayons or markers. The strips can also be taped together to create longer “strands” of Christmas lights for bulletin board decor and more.
