What educators are saying

Love this method with my students. I use it for warm-ups during class to review what they do at home.
This book made even the most basic of recorder warm-ups fun! The kids love playing with the backing tracks and I love that I can send them home with a good resource that allows them to easily access practice recordings!

Description

This resource is now available on Amazon for only $7.99! Individual use only.

What a FUN way to use TECHNOLOGY in your recorder classroom! Designed for beginning recorder players.

THIS FILE SHOULD TAKE YOU THROUGH THE ENTIRE FIRST YEAR OF RECORDER CLASS!

This figure is based on an elementary music class meeting once per week throughout the school year. As you will read below, there are plenty of activities to keep the beginning recorder student occupied throughout the year.

I allow copies to be made of the book for student use, but please don't redistribute to other instructors. Additional licenses can be purchased at a reduced cost in your cart. After your purchase has been made, you can always purchase additional licenses from your My Purchases page on TpT .

Because I allow multiple copies to be made of this book, you do not have to charge your students for books once it's time to order recorder materials! I made this product to be used in my first school, which was 90% free and reduced lunch status. Most of my students lived in poverty and couldn't afford a book or recorder. This is a scenario much too familiar to our students.

Having this product instead of a traditional book also defeats the cost on the school; all they will need to provide is the copy paper and ink.

Download the preview file to see a sample of all pages of the book. Zoom for extra detail. Please note that preview files are compressed, but once downloaded, the purchased file is in HD crisp quality.

This is a downloadable zip file containing the method book, and a classroom presentation for Microsoft PowerPoint.

In the book you will find mostly my own original creations along with a few playful public domain favorites such as Mary Had a Little Lamb, Hot Cross Buns, Au Clair de la Lune, and Down by the Station. Each of the 33 songs, along with the 16 rhythm examples has its own QR code linked to my YouTube channel with 52 video examples to show in class, or for students to watch at home.

You can ABSOLUTELY use this book without the need for the QR codes. Even though there are QR codes within the pages; it doesn't mean you actually have to use them in your class. The PDF and Presentations can stand alone in helping teach your recorder students.

PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE NO VIDEOS INCLUDED WITHIN THIS DOWNLOAD. All videos are hosted on YouTube. If you do not have access to YouTube, I do have the MP3 tracks available for download (link further down in description).

More specifically, you find in the book:

-Title page (available in color or black/white)

-"How to use this book" guide

-Practicing for Success

-Large print B-A-G fingering chart (name and no name options)

-Note and Rest Duration Chart

-Basic Reading Music Skills

-Biggest Recorder Mistakes and How to Fix Them

-Parts of the Recorder

-Hand Placement (two view options)

-33 short songs in 4/4, 3/4, 2/4 and duets (with QR codes) all with B-A-G.

-16 Mind Bending Rhythms

-Student Progress Chart/Rubric with comments sections

-Short Worksheets to reinforce pitch, notes and rests

-Compose Your Own Worksheets based on rhythms from the book

-Completion Award (available in color or black/white)

Some of the above contents include more than one option. If planning on using the PDF packet to make copies for students, make sure to delete the pages you do not plan on using.
