Description

Join President John Adams, his wife Abigail, and their granddaughter Susan in the fall of 1800 when they become the first occupants to move into the White House! Perfect for grades 4 and up, this script can be used with a small group or with the entire classroom. It portrays a look into what life was like in the early days of our nation and includes actual quotes from letters written by John and Abigail themselves. History comes alive with this script. It's a great activity to use on President’s Day or when studying early American History, the lives of presidents, slavery, or important women in America. Resources at the end of the script list primary source documents for students to use in research as well as books for students to read about John and Abigail Adams. Three worksheets are included that relate to the script and inspire critical thinking as well as writing skills. These worksheets include a Venn diagram, a graphics organizer, and a prompt to write a letter about a current political event.
