Reader's Theater -- News of Ruby Bridges
- Word Document File
Description
This small group reader's theater is for 4 students. The names are girls but could be changed to include boys. This story is about Ruby Bridges told from the perspective of children living during that time. It was written for Black History Month. Most of my students have never heard of the people we study during this month. This is why I place such an emphasis on heroes of this caliber. I tie in their fluency study with history. It makes it both fun and educational. If you want more of these, there is an entire pack! I use reader's theaters to encourage my students to practice fluency. It is a fun way to do something that they need. The problem with many other reader's theaters is that students spend a lot of time waiting for their part. When you have a small group they get more practice in and less off task behaviors take place. Most of my scripts are in black and white so they photo copy easily. This one does have a colored picture on the first page but the rest is black and white. My name is Melanie Whitesides but my store name is Wonbyone and I hope that your students enjoy this script as much as mine did. Let me know how things go!
