About the Reading Constructed Response Resources Included:

RACE Toolkit - Use these free RACE printable and digital resources to create RACE toolkits to support your students with each aspect of the strategy.

RACE Booklet - Use this resource to introduce your students to whatever strategy you plan to use to help them with constructed response questions. Strategies may include RACE, RACES, RADD, ACE, etc.

This resource includes short, easy to read paragraphs (10 fiction and 10 nonfiction) with one question per paragraph. This allows students to really focus on learning the strategy and learning the parts of the constructed response answer.

Digital and printable versions included.

RACE Practice - This constructed response reading resource is a great way to continue the practice of answering constructed response questions with the RACE strategy or whatever strategy you use (using an alternate version that is included in the resource.)

This resource includes 12 practice passages (fiction and nonfiction included) that are medium in length, with one constructed response question per passage. This takes it one step further than the RACE booklet and allows your students to practice answering constructed response questions with more lengthy texts.

Constructed Response (and Extended Response) Practice BUNDLE- This bundle is perfect for when you are ready for your students to practice answering constructed response questions with lengthy, rigorous texts and questions.

The questions included in this set are skill-based and require the students to apply what they have learned about various reading skills and details from passages to answer constructed response questions.

There are three sets of constructed response passages and questions included:

• Set 1 - 3 literature/fiction passages
• Set 2 – 3 informational non-fiction passages
• Set 3 – 3 sets of paired passages (6 passages in all)

Each set of passages includes 4-6 constructed response questions AND 1-3 extended response essay prompts, which are intended to be longer essays to give your students practice in that area.

This resource also includes editable student exemplary responses for the constructed response questions and the extended response essay prompts. You can use the student examples as models to teach your students to answer questions correctly and to amplify their own answers.
