Thank you so much for taking the time to put together such a great resource. You've made my life so much easier and my students' lives so much happier! And for that, I cannot thank you enough :)
This resource was great! Not only could I print posters for the walls, but it had great teaching resources to use!

Unveil a world of possibilities for your students this year by developing their understanding of literary genres. It's the critical key to fostering a lifelong love of literature!

    What’s Included?

I recommend using these genre activities as you head back to school and launch your independent reading time, book clubs, or year-long reading challenge.

How do you pace these genre activities?

I like to spread the work out over two solid 55-minute periods before launching DEAR time.

    • Day 1: Introduction + Genre Activities Stations
    • Day 2: Review Notes + Scavenger Hunt & Creative Writing + Quiz
    • Day 3: Library Visit & Book Checkouts

Obviously, you can use it any way you wish! While the genre posters are editable, the activities and worksheets are not.

    TEACHERS LIKE YOU SAID…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Carly said, “This unit is amazing. I start the year teaching each genre and engaging the students throughout the year with that foundational knowledge. I used everything in this bundle. My students loved the scavenger hunt and still use their notes for current assignments.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Deb said, “This is a very thorough resource. I liked the detailed descriptions of each genre/sub-genre. I printed the water-colored description as posters and have them posted in the media center.  We also did the puzzle activity as an introduction, the matching activity, and the quiz at the end. This is an excellent resource!”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Welch’s Resource Cafe said, “My students are loving this! Suddenly "Genre" is an interesting topic!”
