Reading Test Prep Quick Lessons: Fiction & Nonfiction w/Digital - 4th-5th Grades

Do you need test prep resources that actually allow you to support and guide your students while they are practicing for the state test?

These reading test prep quick lessons will help you prepare your students for state testing while also supporting and scaffolding a review of skills (with the teacher prompts for each question). This allows you to use your test prep time as an opportunity to review, as well as practice for the test.

Each test prep quick lesson includes:

• A brief introduction to the story to get your students interested and hooked and give them a purpose for the reading
• Teacher prompts for each question that you can use to guide or prompt your students. They can also be used to help students understand what the question is asking.
• One-page passage (Paired Point of View, Paired Text Structure, and Firsthand/Secondhand Accounts each have two passages)
• 3-5 questions (most have 4) in a variety of formats, including multiple-choice, multiple select, multi-part, and constructed response
• An optional writing challenge to go with the story

There are skill-based reviews AND mixed practice reviews for a total of 38 lessons.

For each skill-based review, there are two practice opportunities. You can use mix and match these practices to use as small group, whole group, and independent practice.

These reading test prep lessons are a great opportunity for you to maximize your reading test prep time while also reviewing those skills.

About the Digital Reading Test Prep Lessons

The reading test prep practice is also included in a Google Slides format. The content is the same as the printable version but has been redesigned to work in a digital format.

The digital test prep practice can be used as independent review or projected for whole group lessons (while students have a copy of the printable version). Refer to the PDF for the answer keys.
