    MIDWEST REGION (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin)

    SOUTHWEST REGION (Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas)

    NORTHEAST REGION (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania)

    The PRINT & GO RESEARCH PROJECT is a perfect companion for the REGIONS UNIT. For this project, each student or group will create a 5-page booklet on one of the 50 States. What perfect time to learn more about a particular state than while learning about the 5 regions of the US! This project lends itself to independent work, partner work, or even group work. Simply begin by assigning a state, print the parent information letter, and print the pages for each state's booklet. Voila! Your work is done and your kiddos are ready to start taking a "road trip"!

    EACH REGION INCLUDES:

    * 6-page informational booklet on the region (interactive and kid-friendly)

    * directions on how to assemble the booklets

    * pictures of student samples

    * colorful vocab. cards

    * 5 map tests (Students identify the states located in each region)

    * 5 region unit test (end of unit test for each region)

    * Answer keys

    THE RESEARCH PROJECT INCLUDES:

    * parent letter explaining the project with space for you to enter the name of the state and due date.

    * a cover page with a picture of each state (50 cover pages in total)

    * a page to record the state motto, state capital, and state nickname

    * a page to record the state bird, state animal, and state flower

    * a page to record 3 exciting facts about the state

    * a page to record 2 interesting places to visit in the state

    * grading rubric (2 versions have been provided)

    At the end of each unit students will be able to:

    -Identify the states in each region

    -Describe the physical features present in each region

    -Identify natural and man-made landmarks present in each region

    -Describe the climate and vegetation in each region

    -Identify the natural resources found in each region
