What educators are saying

Really really love this resource for Canadian Teachers! Easy to use for everyone, and easy to differentiate as needed! I use this every year!
Wonderful product! Perfect for little learners to build their understanding of Remembrance Day. Images were appropriate, as was the language. Thank you!

Description

Remembrance Day is celebrated in schools all over Canada and it is important for children to understand this special day. I wanted to be able to explain the significance of Remembrance Day to my kids, so I created this resource for them.

It begins with the Story of the Poppy in kid friendly language with appropriate visuals. I present this as a slideshow first. The story traces the history of the poppy in Canada and how this little flower became such an important symbol of remembrance.

The writing activities in this pack link back to the story and give kids the opportunity to show what they've learned and understood about the story. The activities in this pack are differentiated so that you can use them for very young children in Kindergarten and older children in the primary grades.

The Story of the Poppy combined with the writing extension activities will help your kids know and appreciate this very important day.

Google Slides version is also included.
