Description
Kids love STEM, and these seasonal STEM activities integrate literacy through simple partner plays! Each challenge features a fun project, making it easy to explore STEM throughout the year in your integrated literacy program for kindergarten and first grade. This full year BUNDLE features 30 partner plays and 5 seasonal themes, including Easter, Spring and more!
What is STEM?
STEM involves:
★ presenting students with an authentic problem
★ challenging students to collaborate for possible solutions
★ making specific plans for the solution
★ testing the model to see if it solves the problem
★ reflecting, revising, and re-testing
★ reflecting on success and recognizing mistakes as part of the process
Each STEM challenge is introduced through a simple seasonal partner play so that the engineering challenge will be purposeful and authentic.
The STEM challenge is meant to be completed after reading each partner play, and involves solving a problem for the characters in the play.
What's Included?
CHRISTMAS STEM
★ 5 Partner Plays (2 Characters plus the Narrator) that focus on Christmas themes such as Santa, Reindeer, and Christmas Elves.
★ 5 STEM challenges, including photos of student examples and simple materials list.
★ STEM Workbook for students to use while they create. Students are prompted to collect ideas through brainstorming, describe their testing and improvements of creations, and draw the final products. These can be used for your assessment.
WINTER STEM PACK
★ 4 Partner Plays (2 Characters plus the Narrator) that focus on Winter, Snowmen, Valentine's Day and New Years Eve celebrations.
★ 6 STEM challenges, including photos of student examples and simple materials list. There are two bonus challenges using limited simple materials that are perfect for early finishers as they don't require any prep and can be completed many times independently!
★ STEM Workbook for students to use while they create. Students are prompted to collect ideas through brainstorming, describe their testing and improvements of creations, and draw the final products. These can be used for your assessment.
SPRING STEM PACK
★ 4 Partner Plays (2 Characters plus the Narrator) that focus on Spring Weather, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Rainbows, Wind and Rain.
★ 6 STEM challenges, including photos of student examples and simple materials list. There are two bonus challenges using limited simple materials that are perfect for early finishers as they don't require any prep and can be completed many times independently!
