This novel study literature packet pairs with the story Save Me a Seat written by Sarah Weeks and Gita Varadarajan. This packet is ideal for 3rd-6th graders. The story Save Me a Seat, lends to great discussion about making assumptions, bullying, and ultimately being kind. This unique story is told from an alternating first person point of view, so students are able to get the perspective of two different view points.

This packet is perfect for whole class use, or for small group literature circles or book clubs. The 42 page packet includes:

  • 2 pre-reading activities
  • Comprehension questions for each section (short answer, multiple choice, true false and fill in the blank questions)
  • Character study pages for the main characters and secondary characters
  • Reading Skill Practice for the following skills: Theme, Point of View, Making Connections, Comparing and Contrasting, Figurative Language, Summarizing
  • Writing Reflections (6 writing prompts to choose from)
  • Answer keys for all comprehension questions

Christ Connected Resource! Included in this packet, is a (free) extension activity for teachers who teach at a christian/private school. Students will work at answering questions from the novel while relating them to Bible stories and various Bible verses. For other Christ connected novel studies click here.

This novel study packet was tested and used in my own classroom! The book Save Me a Seat is my absolute favorite novel to read with my students throughout the year! Please take a look at the preview for more details.
