Description
***EARTH DAY ACTIVITY***
Want to celebrate Earth Day with your middle school scholars in a way that will arm them with tools to help honey bees in the future and just maybe plant a seed in them to be the next young beekeeper?
Challenge them to break out of this digital escape room, where your scholars must find and decode information to unlock five increasingly important locks in order to help our friends, the honey bees, escape dangerous threats that are escalating.
Scholars will look at the history of how honey bees arrived on our shores and who was first instrumental in this type of homesteading, what types of honey bees make up a hive, things honey bees forage for outside of the hive, the overwhelmingly large percentage of crops we are reliant upon that are pollinated by honey bees, and the few that aren’t, threats to the future and stability of honey bees, and ultimately, eight ideas on what scholars can do to help impact the problem of hive collapse on their own.
This activity is a great way to celebrate the day when we all come together to wrap our arms around the earth, and what better way to do that than by introducing young people to the most important player of all…the honey bee.
