School of Rock Unit Plan Based on 7th Grade Common Core Standards

Students will be acting as promoters for a concert. Their groups will be responsible for choosing a band to perform based on the most popular genre of music, designing a stage and seating arrangements for the venue (the Schottenstein Center: Columbus, Ohio**), comparing ticket prices to determine the net profit, and creating and scaling a logo for a promotional poster. Groups will be compiling a portfolio for their final presentation.

**Select a venue that pertains to the area you are located in order to make it culturally relevant for the students.

You will see a trifold decorated to get students engaged and motivated to get to class everyday to see what they will be doing next. You can make one similar to have on display each day. It represents a stage which includes stage, lights, curtain, banner, speakers, drums,and guitar. The lessons for each day are included underneath the speakers which the students can look at. It is also a great idea to take pictures of the students working on their activities and post them on the board for students to take ownership of their own work.
