In a review of many research studies on exercise and cognitive function, reviewers found that engaging in physical activity improved children's cognitive abilities and emotional regulation (Bidzan-Bhuma et al., 2018). Further, Best et al., (2010) found that exercise that includes a cognitive, thinking component is more likely to improve a child's executive function skills.
