What educators are saying

My students use these all throughout our Romeo and Juliet unit! They are always pulling them out to keep the characters straight. Super helpful!
This was a great visual. Students put them in their journals and it was a great reference for them to see relationships of characters.

Description

This one-page summary of key characters and themes in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet offers an engaging and bare bones start to your unit! Why complicate things? Hand drawn in black ink, this character map is perfect for a quick trip to the photocopier. I've seen kids treasure this handout for the entire unit, as it's a great go-to guide to remember who's-who!

These drawings have been inspired by Baz Lurhmann's film version from 1996 - hence Mercutio is wearing heels. You'll also note the giant cracks erupting across the page: these symbolise the rift between the Montague's on the left, and the Capulet's on the right. Prince and Friar Lawrence exist in a more neutral spot at the top. This is a great visual for kids to remember the two feuding families.

Enjoy!
