Similarity - Similar Triangles Methods and Solving Task Cards!!!
This is a set of 32 task cards is meant to review/reinforce the corresponding sides and angles of similar triangles, methods of proving triangles similar and setting-up and solving proportions involving similar triangles.
**Note: While this is designed for high school Geometry students it could be used with advanced 8th graders as well.
**The cards are written to cover the major topics. Topics covered are:
1. Identifying Corresponding Sides and Angles (cards 1 – 6)
2. Writing Similarity Statements (cards 7 – 8)
3. Methods of Proving Triangles Similar (cards 9– 20)
4. Setting up and Solving Proportions involving Similar Triangles (cards 21 – 32)
Teaching Suggestions:
There are multiple ways to use these task cards. A few of them are:
***Pair students with a partner and have them pass the cards from pair to pair every 2 minutes.
***Separate the cards by concepts/difficulty and have students work in small groups depending on their abilities.
***Use the cards as part of a larger station activity.
I highly recommend printing multiple sets of task cards on card stock, laminating them and cutting them out to store in zip lock bags so that you have them for the next year/class. This ensures that you are not constantly needing to run a new set or giving up class time having the students cut them out!
There is also a typed answer key included!
