INCLUDED in Mean Median Mode Magic Packet
Teachers Instructions:
Give each student 1-2 packages of Smarties. Then allow students to complete their Smartie data sheet. Hints have been included to help them in finding the mean, median, mode, and range. Since this is a real world problem, students might NOT have a mode. Two versions have been included. The first way has 5 attempts, so when students find median they end up with only one number. The second way is with 6 attempts ,so students will need to average to find the median. Two song lyrics have been included as a bonus. You could take this activity even further by finding the mean, median, mode, and range of the students' averages. This is a pdf created on a PC. I have tried this same activity with my own class with great results- Classroom Magic from Selina Smith
