Description
Snowman Readers' Theater: "Freddy and Friends" is a short and easy but fun script that I wrote for your beginning readers. It is similar to and reminiscent of Frosty, the Snowman, but is very much an original, since Frosty is copyrighted.
In this story, Freddy is a snowman that has helpful friends roll him up and put him in the freezer until next winter! The script sounds a little lyrical and could be put to a tune.
Common Core Aligned for grades 1 and 2 (although this script is also suitable for kindergartners who want a challenge, or second graders who need a little practice with fluency. This readers theater is a great opportunity for struggling readers to gain confidence!
Prior to reading the scripts, read aloud the story passage, or have students read it with a partner. The script is for 9 readers but can easily be modified for fewer or more students.
Your students may pair up to read lines, too....Of course, you will discover ways that you can vary this format. This is a pdf, so it is not editable, but you can easily assign parts to suit your class.

FLUENCY: Educators know that when students are involved and engaged in a readers theater, it can be an effective strategy for developing and refining fluency, while reinforcing comprehension.
FUN IDEA! This is a great little readers theater to present at this time of year! Have your kids dress up in hats, scarves and mittens...and that's really all they need for props!
